The high resolution color of the combination unit offers a clarity of sonar and charts so vivid you will be amazed. Each map 742xs comes pre-loaded with Garmin's own LakeVu HD and Bluechart g3, but also accepts G3 Vision cartography should you desire information like Auto Guidance 3.0, Mariner’s Eye 3-D, Fish Eye 3-D underwater perspective, satellite imagery, just to name a few. It doesn’t matter whether you are fishing or cruising the ocean or inland lakes, your 742xs comes pre-loaded with charting for both.
The GPSMAP 742xs is a high resolution 800x480 display combination unit that has a built in 1kW chirp and ClearVu scanning sonar built in which offers exceptionally clear picture of what’s below. Internal lightning fast 10 Hz. GPS receiver updates position 10 times per second which allows for a fluid movement on the display. The 742xs can also support Garmin's own Panoptix all-seeing sonar, as well as their premium sonar modules and a wide range of transducers that are sold separately.
Save up to 5,000 waypoints and have the confidence of getting back to your starting point every time. If you have points or tracks on other brands of GPS that you’d like to transfer to your MAP 742xs, you can do that via GPX file format. Want to see birds, or see in the fog? Adding a radar is easy, as well as networking other displays and devices like marine instruments, wind sensors, even the Virb action camera! NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000 provides options for add on like Fusion link, AIS, and autopilots to name a few. The nice thing about networking the 742xs is that you can share the built in fishfinder with another unit on the network. Simplification with the Layers menu. Now you can easily see which layers are enabled, while the Menu remains as a sidebar on your screen. This makes switching between layers and adding multiple layers quick and intuitive. Create ‘Smart Boundaries’ and assign them with appropriate SmartModes. Your display will now switch to the appropriate screen when entering a Smart Boundary. Entering a docking area? Designate it at as a boundary and your screen will instantly switch to a Docking screen as soon as your vessel enters the territory you assigned. FLIR Camera Support is another exciting feature of the 742xs. All next generation M-series models and new digital models are now supported with continuous zoom support and gyro stabilization control.
The Garmin 742xs supports the Garmin inReach Mini Satellite Communicator which allows users to select from a list of preset responses to communicate with friends and family directly from your chartplotter.
